The Quintet Black S is equipped with a naked Shibata-cut stylus diamond, which is considered to be one of the best stylus profiles available. The diamond is mounted on a rigid, extremely high-quality sapphire needle carrier.

The slim, highly polished profile of the Shibata cut allows an exceptionally large contact area with the groove walls and ensures detailed and unaltered reproduction across the entire spectrum, including even the finest groove information.

Degree of accuracy

The MC Quintet series is in line with Ortofon's unwavering commitment to provide the most precise and accurate reproduction without sound coloration:

• A special PC thermoplastic material is used to manufacture the cabinet. This lightweight, impact-resistant material is highly suitable for injection molding and provides a very durable, scratch-resistant surface.
• Neodymium magnets are used to achieve an optimum output voltage.
• Low internal impedance makes the cartridge less sensitive to loads and therefore ensures compatibility with the widest range of preamplifiers and transformers.
