After my 30-year-old (!) Focal Onyx loudspeakers had passed away, it was time to look for a worthy successor. Reading and browsing through tests and forums as well as good experiences with a small nuBox to pimp the TV sound led me to Nubert. The budget I had set myself and reading all the available tests and forums made me want to hear and compare the nuLine 334 and the nuVero 110. On March 13, 2019, I had the opportunity for a test and comparison listening in Duisburg. Well, and while I'm there, it can't hurt to listen to the nuVero 140 ...

The long and extensive comparison listening of the three different pairs of speakers was not only very enjoyable, but also very helpful. All three speakers, the nuLine 334 as well as the nuVero 110 and the nuVero 140, impressed me. They all sounded clear and bright in the treble, deep and controlled in the bass and balanced overall. Above all - and this is particularly important to me - they all sounded "neutral". Nothing was added to the music that didn't belong there. The instruments and voices sounded the way the respective instruments and voices sound. Just honest speakers!

Nevertheless, I did hear differences. That's the way it should be, and it would probably be an indictment of a music lover if that wasn't the case. I quickly realized that I liked the nuVeros better than the nuLine in terms of their overall sound image and sound character. The nuLine had powerful and very deep bass, which was nevertheless always clear and controlled. The treble was clear, everything was balanced. It seemed very direct to me. I can understand people who prefer the nuLine. Nevertheless, I liked the nuVeros much better. It really has nothing to do with criticizing the nuLine. For me, the nuVeros sounded somehow more open, more spacious, with more stage. Here too, deep, rich but controlled bass and clear, in my opinion even much clearer trebles, without being hissy or annoying. I noticed the three-dimensionality and the larger stage especially with classical music, where with the nuVeros I had more of a feeling of really having an orchestra in front of me with the respective instruments in the "right" place. So far, so simple! So it should be a nuVero.

Then I listened to the nuVero 110 "against" the nuVero 140. I couldn't hear any real difference in the treble and mid-range. If some real expert can hear a difference there with the same drivers only because of the different technology and tuning in the speaker, that may be so. Such fine hearing is admirable. Even when listening closely to different pieces of music, I was unable to detect any difference in the treble and mid-range. The difference that ultimately led me to choose the "big" 140 was in the bass. Not that I'm being misunderstood here. The bass of the 110 was deep, controlled, clean, crisp, etc. (all the positive qualities you can say about a bass). The church organ also rumbled as it should during Bach's Toccata and Fugue. As long as I stayed in the realm of classical music (Bach and Dvorak), jazz (Hedvig Hanson, Marcus Miller, Till Brönner, perhaps Kari Bremnes could be included here) and world music (Dhafer Youssef, Rokia Traoré), I heard no differences between the two nuVeros. Above all, I kept thinking: nobody needs more bass than the 110s.

But then I got into R&B (Alicia Keys), what should I call electro-dance music (Paul Kalkbrenner) and a bit rougher rock (Rage against the machine, Volbeat). And there it was, the small difference. I couldn't say that the 110s here sounded bad or not deep enough. It was all very, very good. But the 140 had that extra punch at the very bottom. And I mean "punch". I had the feeling that it wasn't so much a hearing as a feeling. It was this feeling that the bass was going into your stomach - even if it wasn't turned up that loud. And that feeling is part of this kind of music for me. There was just a bit more down there with the 140, a bit more sovereignty, but without anything sounding exaggerated or artificially thickened. It was simply a clean punch. Clear, controlled, and just that little bit more compared to the 110.

If I were to take the 110, which I am still very enthusiastic about and can only recommend, the little man in my ear would probably always say for the next few years: "Great, but ..." And I didn't want to put myself through that "but".

Conclusion: I ordered the nuVero 140.

Although I have been using the two Nubox 483 floorstanding speakers for some time now, I was interested in the ATM module available for them. And not so much to get a "bass giant". As a fan of neutral reproduction, I was interested in achieving a warmer yet open sound, especially with classical music. This calculation worked out. Since I have been using the module with my older Marantz integrated amplifier, I am regularly amazed at the significant improvement, which in my opinion clearly goes beyond what you can expect from a system in this price category. At last I can experience a transparent, concert hall-like sound characteristic even with a large orchestra, which makes the reproduction of woodwind, brass, violas, cellos and double basses in particular a pleasure to listen to. The live CD "Dresden" by Jan Garbarek, which I had previously considered to have an average sound, suddenly develops unexpected auditory impressions in the piano and percussion sound and now sounds really "live". This also applies to my vinyl treasures. An older LP cassette with Puccini's "Tosca" impressed me with the sound quality it brought out and can now hold its own with current CDs. A positive side-effect of the ATM: my extremely neutral AKG 701 headphones, which are not particularly bass-friendly, have improved significantly in the mid and bass range without overdoing it.

Hello Nubert Team!
I picked up my new speakers from you in Schwäbisch Gmünd on 09.03.2019. nuVero 110 and nuVero 70. Previously had the nuLine Series 284 and nuLine CS 174. Must honestly admit that the nuVeros are yet another house number. I am absolutely thrilled with these speakers. Packaging and quality clearly over TOP.
Thanks again for the great advice and the test listening in the studio. My thanks go to Helmut Singer, Holger Nubert and of course Stefan Botticella. Also to the entire Nubert team and Günther Nubert. Keep up the good work. You are a super team.

Hello dear Nubert team,

after our move there was unfortunately no more room for surround (Nuline series). I then ordered 1 pair of nupro x-4000 in white. And what can I say: I did everything right :-).
Unfortunately, one speaker was defective after about 4 weeks. I called the hotline, described the problem and 2 days later a brand new box was sent to me. The defective one was sent back with a return slip. That's what I call customer service.

Many thanks and best wishes from the far north from a happy x-4000 owner.
Stephan

Hello dear Nubert team,

After my nuVero 50 arrived just one day after ordering, I can only say THANK YOU.

Great speakers, carefully packaged, speedy delivery! What more could you want? Other manufacturers can take a leaf out of my book!

I was looked after by Mr. Hinsenhofen from Duisburg who really 'lives' customer orientation!
Very communicative, friendly and simply always there for you ? no matter what request you have! Keep up the good work!

Until the next purchase :-)

dear nubert team, dear mr. nubert,

originally i was running my burmester system with 4 speakers from a well-known supplier in berlin, one in each corner of the room. then i ordered 2 of your nuvero 140s to replace the front speakers. a great increase in dynamics and resolution! after the nuvero 170s were released, i ordered a couple of them last summer and they are now at the front of the room and the 140s at the back of the room. there are probably not many nubert friends who run a pair of 140 and 170 in the same room, i just say: bomb !!! whether classical, jazz, vinyl or cd, tv sound or crisp blueray action videos, this combination flattens everything and can still make music super fine and quiet. the speakers should also be powered by serious power amplifiers, then no eye remains dry with enthusiasm. i am officially impressed !!!

many greetings from the hanover area, your don

Hello dear Nubert team,

the nuPro A-600 has convinced me so far, because the dimensions are not as huge as the A-700 or the new X-8000, but the sound is absolutely mature. Unfortunately, the model series is now being discontinued.

Will there be an X-5000 that continues the concept of the A-600?

Greetings Markus

Answer from the Nubert-Team

We are delighted that you are impressed by the nuPro A-600. We are too, by the way. (the A-600 is Günther Nubert's favorite active speaker). Unfortunately, the format is not as popular with our customers as we had hoped. That's why there will be no successor in the X series.

Dear Nubert team,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very much for your kindness in returning the two speakers. They were not ideal for my home, I had misjudged this. With the AS-250, I have now found the perfect product for me. It fits in perfectly visually and the sound is stunning. I use the device primarily for listening to music, less for watching TV. The extensive sound adjustment options (especially the boost to the lower cut-off frequency) allow absolute listening pleasure for every taste. Never before have I listened to music with such enthusiasm - goosebumps are regularly guaranteed.
The AS-250 is really fun and ?addictive? - and enriches my life.

THANK YOU - and best regards to Schwäbisch Gmünd

Horst
