An elegant powerhouse
The nuPower A-2 is a high-performance power amplifier in a traditional full-size format. Behind the stylish front panel, crafted from black glass and silver-anodised, brushed aluminium, classic A/B amplifier technology is combined with state-of-the-art power supply technology. This hybrid design delivers exceptional sound performance across the entire power range, from the quietest tones to maximum volume. We guarantee top-class technical performance in terms of signal-to-noise ratio and distortion.
Details
Everything at a glance and under control
Two analogue VU meters form the defining feature of the nuPower A-2’s front panel. They provide constant feedback on the unit’s operating status and offer convenient brightness adjustment. Their classic, technical appearance reflects the heyday of the hi-fi era and visually emphasises the power potential contained within this power amplifier.
The elegantly designed, generously sized rotary control allows you to select the speakers (pair A, B, A+B) and the input (RCA, XLR).
Connectivity and Design
With RCA and XLR connections for two pairs of speakers, selectable input sensitivity and switchable mono mode, the nuPower X-2 is ideally suited to a wide range of applications in a variety of setups. The nuPower A-2 owes its elegant proportions – relative to its power output – which complement the nuControl X-2 high-end preamplifier, to its sophisticated cooling concept. Carefully selected, high-quality, precisely temperature-controlled fans ensure optimal operating conditions at all power levels. They are inaudible during normal music playback and guarantee maximum power output in combination with the slim design of this high-performance amplifier.
A powerful amplifier for stereo and mono
As well as serving as a stereo power amplifier for two speakers, the nuPower A-2 can also be used in mono mode. The switch is easily operated on the rear panel. In this mode, the amplifier delivers a powerful 1,200 watts of continuous power per channel – providing a dynamic reserve that ensures ample power is available even for the most demanding applications.
Dream Team
The nuPower A-2 power amplifier naturally forms a dream combination with our high-end nuControl X-2 preamplifier.
On the one hand, this is due to the coordinated design of the Ambient Line, featuring black glass fronts, matt silver accents on the panels and knobs, and the elegant silver edging.
At the same time, both components are also technically optimised for each other and have been developed to work in perfect harmony.
You will find the perfect playback devices for this concentrated energy and dynamism in our sophisticated loudspeaker ranges.
The Source of Power
The nuPower A-2’s power supply, which is extremely generously rated in terms of power output, can deliver up to 3000 watts – ensuring dynamic peak performance in all situations. As a modern switching power supply, it operates with exceptional energy efficiency and, thanks to its compact dimensions, enables the slimline design of the unit. It also guarantees high stability – even with low-impedance speakers and particularly demanding musical material.
Controlled and Efficient
The design of the nuPower A-2 is based on fully discrete Class A/B technology. With precise circuit design extending right through to the balanced preamplifier section – where, for example, thermally coupled input transistors are used – we lay the foundation for dynamic performance, optimised thermal characteristics and perfect sound tuning in line with our ideal of pure, natural sound.
High-tech delivers enjoyment and elegance
Current-stable MOSFET transistors, thanks to their exceptionally smooth characteristic curve, provide the foundation for the ultimate listening experience. They enable exceptionally smooth and precise sound reproduction right up to maximum power. The signal is routed in a fully balanced manner. The nuPower A-2 power amplifier thus sets standards not only visually but also technically: with proven technology that, when consistently implemented, delivers maximum dynamics from a compact and elegant chassis.
Sophisticated design with a heritage
With its design, which emphasises clear, fundamental contrasts in form and colour, featuring two large VU meters on the front panel, the full-size nuPower A-2 power amplifier pays a direct tribute to the heyday of the hi-fi era. The contrast between the black glass front and the silver accents of the contoured base, the control knobs and the fine line frame creates a timeless elegance that blends harmoniously into any living space.

Product type and recommended use
The Nubert nuPower A-2 is a top-of-the-range stereo power amplifier with a fully analogue, balanced signal path. It combines outstanding performance with exemplary audiophile finesse and transparency. As the ideal link, it completes the playback chain between the source component/preamplifier and the loudspeakers.
With carefully selected components and its fully discrete design, it delivers exceptionally high sound purity.
Its continuous output power of 2 x 400 watts (4 ohms) and the generously dimensioned power supply, with a capacity of up to 3000 watts, effortlessly drive even power-hungry loudspeakers to their dynamic limits. To maximise the output power, the nuPower A-2 can be operated in mono mode. In this configuration, two nuPower A-2 units are combined to drive a pair of loudspeakers. This provides 1,200 watts (4 ohms) per channel.
Despite this concentrated power, distortion and noise levels remain pleasantly low. With a residual noise of just 80 µV rms and total harmonic distortion as low as 0.002%, the highest standards are met – ideal conditions for building a high-fidelity audio system for the ultimate musical enjoyment.
We particularly recommend the nuPower A-2 in combination with our nuControl X-2 preamplifier and the loudspeakers from our flagship nuVero nova series. However, thanks to its wide range of connection options (including a pair of XLR inputs and high-quality fine-thread terminals) and its flexible design, it also works harmoniously with other preamplifiers and loudspeaker models. The nuPower A-2 can drive up to two pairs of speakers, either alternately or simultaneously. Its exceptional load stability means it makes no difference whether the speakers are 4-ohm or 8-ohm models – in stereo mode, it can even handle speakers with as low as 2 ohms.
Connections
The nuPower A-2 can be easily integrated into a stereo system via a pair of balanced XLR inputs and a pair of unbalanced RCA inputs. The speaker terminal, featuring four pairs of fine-threaded screw terminals, allows for the operation of either one or two pairs of speakers in stereo mode, or a single speaker in mono mode. A trigger input in mini-XLR format is also available; the appropriate cable is included in the scope of delivery.
Housing and Design
With its clean lines, striking contrasts in form and colour, and the two large VU meters on the front panel, the full-size nuPower A-2 power amplifier clearly evokes the heyday of the hi-fi era. The black glass front is set off by the silver accents of the contoured base, the control knobs and the delicate line frame. The result is a timeless elegance that blends harmoniously into any living space.
Controls
In addition to the standby button, the nuPower A-2 features two further controls on its front panel: a rotary control and an enter button. These allow you to switch between the speaker pairs (operating modes: a, b, a + b) just as easily as between the XLR and RCA inputs. The brightness of the VU meters can also be adjusted within a wide range. As is standard with power amplifiers, volume control is handled via the preamplifier. Switching between mono and stereo operation is done via a toggle switch on the rear panel, as is the selection of the gain factor (stereo operation: 23 / 29 dB). A comprehensive manual explains all the options and provides typical application examples.
