Powering the music that moves you
The Onkyo M-80 power amplifier uses a three-stage inverted Darlington amplifier. This three-stage inverted Darlington amplifier has a very low output impedance and drives speakers with high current. The low NFB (negative feedback) also means that it is not affected by additional noise from the speaker, delivering a powerful yet high-resolution and informative sound. The transistors in the output stage of the M-80 are connected in parallel, providing excellent instantaneous power supply performance, further enhancing the sound rise and feeling of power. The driver stage of the M-80 amplifier uses DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry), which reduces noise in the ultra-high frequency band with its high slew rate design and helps to reproduce the natural sound of an analog record.
State-of-the-art components, fascinating reproduction
The Onkyo M-80 power amplifier features a specially designed high-current power supply for dynamic sound across the entire frequency range and an extruded aluminum heat sink that suppresses vibration. The use of high-quality 10,000-uF capacitors manufactured exclusively for Onkyo, hi-fi connectors (both speaker outputs and audio inputs), copper bus bars, and a robust, vibration-protected front panel ensure powerful, world-class playback.
The M-80 chassis consists of two aluminum side panels and a steel top plate. This three-piece chassis construction increases rigidity and improves earthquake resistance, resulting in improved overall sound quality.
Developed as the flagship of the Onkyo brand, the Icon series is not only an evolution of Onkyo's previous hi-fi products, but also the culmination of Onkyo's long-standing and ever-evolving sound technologies.
