The 10-inch driver was developed to meet our requirements: high efficiency, high maximum excursion, low resonant frequency, and precisely matched to the parameters of the bass-reflex enclosure. Your benefit: a subwoofer that combines depth and precision and converts the available amplifier power into acoustic performance in an ideal way.
X-Connect und X-Connect Surround
Freedom for the woofer. The nuSub series can receive both X-Connect and X-Connect Surround and can therefore be directly connected wirelessly with many Nubert devices. By means of nuConnect trXS, the wireless technology can also be retrofitted to other systems. Your advantage: stable connection and free placement of the subwoofer.
X-Remote
Our subwoofers don't have an included remote control, because your smartphone takes care of that. Our Nubert X-Remote app works with the power-saving Bluetooth LE standard and provides access to all functions of the subwoofer. Your advantage: full control at all times and no more aiming necessary.
X-Room Calibration
Your smartphone is also the heart for our calibration function X-Room Calibration, which automatically corrects the bass by ± 6dB in the range of 20 to 160 Hz with fully parametric equalizers. IOS devices serve directly as a microphone for the algorithm, Android devices require an additional microphone due to different hardware equipment. Your advantage: Better bass reproduction for your listening position.

Design
The trend is towards greater integration into living spaces and a more inconspicuous appearance for loudspeakers. The design brief was therefore clear: a clean front with gentle curves. The result is a subwoofer that could be mistaken for a seat cube and blends in discreetly.
Series overview
Our nuSub series consists of 3 models, is the latest generation of our woofers and relies on downfire technology. General Information
Never Operate the Loudspeaker Unattended!
Danger of Electric Shock!
To avoid the risk of electric shock, the speaker may not be opened by the user. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the speaker. Service work and repairs are reserved for qualified specialists authorized by Nubert. If you need service, please contact Nubert electronic GmbH directly (info@nubert.de)!
Danger of Suffocation!
Never let children use or play with the speaker, remote control, or packaging unattended. There is a risk that children will get caught in the packaging film and suffocate. Make sure that children cannot remove any small parts from the devices! These parts, like the remote control battery, could be swallowed and cause suffocation. In case of swallowing any parts, contact a doctor immediately.
Danger of Injury or Damage!
When moving the speaker, take care to avoid injury and damage!
Caution!
Since the speaker can only be completely disconnected from the mains at the mains input on the rear of the unit or by pulling the mains plug from the socket, it must be positioned so that you have free access to the mains input or mains plug. If any of the following situations occurs, the loudspeaker must be switched off immediately and disconnected from the mains. Contact Nubert electronic GmbH (info@nubert.de) immediately:
- The speaker has been damaged or has fallen down.
- Power cord or plug is damaged.
- Objects or liquid have got into the loudspeaker.
- The speaker has been exposed to excessive moisture or rain.
- The speaker does not work properly or exhibits a significant reduction in performance.
- The loudspeaker smells burnt, develops smoke, or makes unusual noises.
Caution!
The driver in this loudspeaker produces a strong magnetic field in its immediate vicinity that can affect or damage other equipment close by. It is therefore imperative that you keep magnetically sensitive devices and items away from the loudspeaker. Never place CRT screens, notebooks, hard drives, or similar devices on the loudspeakers!

Installation Instructions
Caution!
An unstable location can damage the speaker.
- Only place the loudspeaker on a flat, stable surface and make sure that it cannot be knocked over!
- Also make sure that no unintentional pulling can occur on the cables to avoid knocking over the speaker or damaging the connection sockets!
- Keep strong mechanical shocks away from the loudspeaker!
Caution!
Excessive heat build-up inside the unit can shorten its service life or lead to fire.
- Never cover the back of the speaker! Make sure that there is a clearance of at least 10 cm and sufficient air circulation in the back area!
- Do not operate the speaker and remote control near heat sources such as radiators or stoves!
- Do not set the speaker and remote control to direct sunlight.
- Never place burning candles or similar open fire sources on the loudspeaker!
Danger of Explosion!
Installation in unsuitable locations can cause explosions. Do not use the speaker or remote control:
- in environments where there is a risk of fire or explosion!
- at extremely low or extremely high temperatures!
- near flammable gases or vapours!
- near strong dust!
- near flammable materials!
Danger of Electric Shock!
The loudspeaker carries mains voltage and voltages higher than 35 V AC or DC inside. It has no special protection against the intrusion of liquids or objects into the system. There is therefore a risk of lethal electric shock.
- Never touch the speaker with wet hands!
- Only use the speaker in a dry place!
- Do not operate it outdoors or in damp rooms!
- The loudspeaker must be protected from liquids of all kinds, including dripping and splashing water.
- Do not place any containers containing liquids (e.g., flower vases) on the speaker or in the immediate vicinity!
- If the loudspeaker is moved from a cold environment to a warm room, condensation may form inside the unit. Wait at least six hours until the loudspeaker has reached room temperature and is dry before switching it on!
- No objects or foreign bodies may get into the device.
- Should the loudspeaker come into contact with liquids or should objects have got inside, please unplug the mains plug immediately and contact Nubert electronic GmbH (info@nubert.de)!
Danger of Injury or Damage!
For speakers with threaded bushings on the underside:
- The threaded bushings may be used for upright mounting of the loudspeaker on suitable base plates only.
- The threaded bushings on the underside of the loudspeaker enclosures are not designed for tensile loads and must therefore not be used as holders for hooks or similar devices in order to suspend the loudspeaker cabinet.
- A falling speaker may cause serious injury and damage.
Connection Instructions
General Connection Instructions
- Disconnect the mains plug before changing any wiring on the system!
- Make sure that all connections have been made correctly and that all plugs are firmly seated in the sockets before connecting the speaker to the mains.
- Use only the intended cables or plug connections for the connections! Failure to do so may result in damage or malfunction.
- If you want to disconnect connections on the loudspeaker, always pull the plug, never the cable!
- Ensure that all plugs are firmly seated in the sockets!
- Only use cables and accessories recommended by Nubert!
Danger of Electric Shock!
Faulty mains supply systems or excessive mains voltage can lead to electric shocks.
- All power supply or antenna systems connected to the loudspeaker must comply with all applicable laws and regulations and be professionally installed by an approved installation company.
- Use only the appropriate power cord to connect the speaker. Do not modify the power cord or its plug.
- Make sure that the mains voltage at your location matches the requirements of the loudspeaker! The correct power supply can be found on the label on the back of the speaker. It must not be connected to other power supplies.
- Devices of Class 1 construction must be connected to the mains power socket outlet with a protective earth connection. Make sure that the installation of the protective earth is carried out correctly!
- When laying the power cables, make sure that they cannot be damaged (e.g., by heating or mechanical stress)! Pay particular attention to the areas of the connectors and distributors!
Caution!
Overvoltage in the power supply system (e.g., due to lightning) can damage or destroy the device and power supply unit.
- An overvoltage protection element can provide a certain degree of protection against excessively high voltages in the power grid.
- However, the greatest possible protection against damage can only be achieved with the complete separation from the mains supply. In case of thunderstorms or danger of lightning strikes, disconnect the mains cable from the socket and any antenna plugs from your hi-fi system!
- If the speaker is not used for a long period of time or is unattended, the power supply should be disconnected. Disconnect the mains plug from the socket!
Care and Cleaning Tips
Caution!
Improper handling of the speaker may result in damage.
- Always unplug the speaker before cleaning it!
- Before recommissioning, make sure that all connections are correct, that there are no short circuits, and that the speaker is completely dry.
- Never use strong cleaning agents or solvents such as petrol, spirit, or similar!
Enclosure
We recommend commercial window cleaner sprayed onto a cotton cloth. This allows almost all fingerprints and dust to be easily removed. Alternatively, you can also use window active foam.
We advise against the use of microfibre cloths! These can cause mini scratches in the surface.
Diaphragms and Speaker Chassis
To remove dust from a loudspeaker chassis, a lint-free cotton cloth is sufficient to wipe the membrane lightly with very little pressure.

Questions about subwoofers
Our customers increasingly want speakers that blend in better with their living spaces. Subwoofers should be as inconspicuous as possible. That is why we switched from front-firing to down-firing woofers at our customers' request. However, since 2025, we have once again had two powerful front-firing subwoofers in our range: the nuZeo 8w and the nuVero nova 1w.
If you want to use an Android smartphone with the X-Room Calibration, you need our XRC Android interface. This is necessary because the different phone manufacturers use different microphones, drivers and operating system versions. Due to the separate microphone, we can guarantee a good result.

Bass spürt man
Dank der super schnellen Lieferung konnte ich heute schon (Silvester 2024) den nuSub XW-900 an meinem nuConnect ampX anschließen und testen. Er unterstützt meine beiden nuLine 34. *** Erster Eindruck: Wunderbare Verarbeitung! Wirklich tolle Oberfläche und Kanten. Wie aus einem Guß. Geht einfach nicht besser. *** Dank der guten Anleitung schnell angeschlossen und eingerichtet. *** Zuerst mal mit Lieblingsmusik getestet und direkt mit offenem Mund da gesessen. Dann Filme. WOW! Meine Güte geht der Bass tief runter. Interstellar, Blade Runner, ... Da fiel mir wieder der Spruch ein, dass man Bass mehr spürt als hört. Steven Spielberg sagte mal: “The eye sees better when the sound is great” - stimmt absolut. Ich verzichte schon lange auf Böller, aber heute Abend gibt es Feuerwerk vom XW-900. *** Also ich bin wirklich geflasht und ein bisschen euphorisch. Das der Sub so gut ist hätte ich nicht gedacht. Meine Erwartungen wurden deutlich übertroffen. Und das für den Preis! *** Allen Nubert-Mitarbeitern und -Kunden wünsche ich einen guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr 2025 und viel Freude an den ehrlichen Lautsprechern.

Eine neue Erfahrung
Einigen meiner Gäste wurde etwas mulmig. Das ist ein mächtiger und trotzdem feiner klingender Subwoofer. Das er so richtig tief spielt wissen ja alle. Aber ebenso die vielen Nuancen, tief und fein vibrierend, federnd und auch schwer wie eine große Eisenkugel die im Innern gegen etwas schlägt. Eine gute Abstimmung macht viel aus, damit er die Hauptlautsprecher ergänzt und das Klangbild nicht verfälscht. Bei mir spielen die B-40 und der Sub perfekt zusammen. Alles ist gut verkabelt mit In-Akustik Kabeln von gleicher Länge. Ich möchte aber betonen, dass die nuBoxx B-40 alleine so gut klingen, dass ein Sub dazu schon etwas für Freak´s ist. Was ist besser als viel Hubraum? … Richtig.

Bring me Thanos!
Ich habe in den letzten Wochen meiner alten Surround Anlage um meine alten Nuwave 10 herum - die sind etwa 20 Jahre alt und klingen immer noch unverändert hervorragend - ein Update verpasst. Und was für eins! Neben dem CS64, den RS-24 habe ich auch einen XW-900 gekauft.. und wow .. jetzt ist der Donnergott bei mir zu Hause! Der Sound ist einfach nur geil. Raumfüllend, spielfreudig, abgrundtief. Dank der App und der TrX Funkanbindung ist der Subwoofer einfach zu installieren und einzustellen. Bin absolut begeistert!

Hab es echt gewagt ...... ;-)
Hi da bin ich wieder, nachdem ich die "XS-8500 RC" schon bewertet habe, schaut einfach mal nach...., habe ich es echt gewagt und mir den "nuSub XW-900" gegönnt. Alle die mir vorher gesagt haben, mein Setup würde langen, die habe ich etwas anderes gelehrt ;-). Klar war vorher alles echt Top aber jetzt ist der Bass viel angenehmer. Ich bin hin und weg, jetzt warte ich noch auf die " nuPro XI-2000 RC", jaaaa ich weiß die gibt es schon, aber noch nicht das Gehäuse dazu, also warte ich noch etwas. Bin dann echt mal gespannt, ich bin sooooo zufrieden, einfach nur ne cooole Sache. Danke an "Nubert" und bitte weiter so. PS: ob ich mir dann noch zu meinen jetzigen "nuPro XS-3000 RC" noch mal zwei dazu holen werde, ich hab kein Plan ;-) Gruß Michael

Durch und durch perfekt
Genialer Klang und Volumen. Läuft bei mir zur Unterstützung einer XS-7500 mit 2 3000ern - nun ist alles so, wie ich es möchte. Toller Klang, saubere Höhen und Mitten und ein nicht überbietbares Volumen von ganz unten raus, und das völlig unaufgeregt und souverän, auch bei leiser Musik! Danke Nubert!

nuSub XW-900
Eigentlich bin ich sehr zurückhaltend, was die Präsenz in den sozialen Medien, Gästebüchern u.ä. angeht. Meine Zurückhaltung will ich aber nun einmal zurückstellen, weil ich wirklich ein dickes Lob in Richtung Schwäbisch Gmünd loswerden möchte. Ich bin seit ca. 50 Jahren (ja, doch schon so alt) HiFi-Nerd. Angefangen hat es mit einem Grundig Tonbandgerät Ende der Sechzigerjahre des vorigen Jahrhunderts und hat sich dann über die Jahrzehnte weiter entwickelt mit Selbstbauboxen des Mitbewerbers aus Berlin und sukzessiven Anschaffungen von Verstärkern, Plattenspieler, CD-Spieler etc.. [?] Vor ein paar Jahren habe ich mir dann die nuPro A-700 zum Testen schicken lassen. Was soll ich sagen, ich war hellauf begeistert. In diesem besonderen Fall kann ich der Fachpresse mal zustimmen, dass diese Lautsprecher wohl die besten Aktiv-Boxen unter 10.000,- ? sind. Dabei kosteten sie ja noch nicht mal annähernd soviel. [?] Kürzlich habe ich mir noch einen Subwoofer XW-900 geleistet. Für mein Heimkino ist das noch mal ein dicker Schub. [?] Ein besonderes Lob möchte ich noch über den Nubert-Service loswerden. Ob per Telefon oder per E-Mail, die Mitarbeiter sind immer schnell, freundlich und kompetent, obwohl im letzten "Servicefall" ein Blick von mir in die Bedienungsanleitung völlig genügt hätte. Jetzt ist es soweit: "I am a Nuberianer".

nuSub XW
Seit nunmehr 2 Monaten habe ich den XW-900 im Einsatz und denke, es wird Zeit, ein paar Sätze darüber zu schreiben. Zuvor möchte ich den interessierten Leser noch wissen lassen, dass ich seit über 20 Jahren mich mit dem Hobby des Boxenbaus beschäftige. Mein Hauptaugenmerk lag dabei seit jeher darin, Stereolautsprecher zu bauen, die ohne Subwoofer auskommen, aber trotzdem tief und gleichzeitig akkurat spielen. Als ich mich aber irgendwann satt gesehen habe an meinen Lautsprechern musste was neues her. Leider habe ich aktuell wenig Zeit dafür, so kam Nubert ins Spiel. Nun denn ... Der XW-900 spielt bei mir zusammen mit einem Paar nuVero 3 als Ersatz für meine ursprünglichen nuVero 110, die, wie meine alten Selbstbauboxen auch, leider keine Chance hatten gegen mein Wohnzimmer mit Erker und offener Anbindung an Essbereich und Küche. Egal welche Kombination aus Aufstellort und Hörplatz, ich habe keine Möglichkeit gefunden, die hervorragenden Qualitäten der 110er am Hörplatz zu genießen. Wie so oft stören Raummoden und stehende Wellen den Bass. In meinem Fall so, dass von 40 bis 55 Hz die Absenkung weit über 10db unter dem Rest lag, von 44 - 50 Hz war sogar rein gar nichts zu hören. [?] Ich weiß, das alles hatte bis jetzt nicht viel mit dem XW-900 zu tun, aber einfach zu schreiben, die 110er hätten es nicht gebracht, war mir zu plump. Somit musste ich als bekennender Subwoofer-Verächter neue Wege gehen und es kam die oben genannte Sub/Sat-Kombi zustande, die ehrlich gesagt, nicht so einfach aufeinander abzustimmen war, wie ich mir das ausgemalt hatte. Nun, da das aber erledigt ist, erfreue ich mich jeden Tag an meinem nun tollen Sound, der allerdings ohne die X-Room-Calibration so nicht zustande gekommen wäre. In Zusammenarbeit mit dem Aufstellort bewirkt dieses Werkzeug, dass ich nun ab 20 Hz einen nahezu linearen Frequenzgang habe. Und egal ob rockig trockene Kick-Bässe, lang gezogene tiefe Bässe (Imagine Dragons - Bad Liar) oder Filmeffekte, alles passt auf den Punkt genau und bietet eine Akkuratesse, die ich im Bassbereich nicht für möglich gehalten habe. [?] Ein i-Tüpfelchen wäre die Möglichkeit, den Equalizer für die Raumkorrektur auch manuell zu verändern. Ganz so wie bei den ehemaligen DSP-Subwoofern. Als einzig echten negativen Kritikpunkt würde ich die fehlende stufenlose Phasenlage nennen. Was gibt es noch zu sagen? Für die absoluten Puristen sei vielleicht noch erwähnt, dass selbst bei enormen Pegeln keine Nebengeräusche zu vernehmen sind. Von dieser Befürchtung und Erfahrung anderer lese ich des öfteren in Verbindung mit dem Downfire-Prinzip. Warum, keine Ahnung, hier ist jedenfalls alles top. Dann würde ich noch gerne anerkennend los werden, dass mein "2. Wahl Subwoofer" absolut mängelfrei ist, genauso wie es die "2. Wahl nuVero 110" waren. Schon das allein spricht für die absolute Professionalität der Marke Nubert. So, nun hoffe ich, noch lange Freude an dem Subwoofer zu haben.

Lol Lol Lol Nur kurz! Hatte vor einer Weile die nuPro 600 Aktiv als Paar gekauft. Ich war schon hin und weg. Nun kam noch der nuSub 900 dazu. Ein rundum Wohlfühlpaket klare, saubere Höhen und Mitten. Danke des nuSub 900 auch tiefe prägnante Bässe. Von dieser "Ehrlichkeit" können sich andere eine Scheibe abschneiden. Lieferung kam pünktlich und ohne Schäden an. Danke geehrtes Nubert Team!!! Weiter so!!!

nuSub XW
Habe am 21.01.2021 den Sub XW-900 bestellt und konnte diesen nach nicht einmal 48 Stunden anschließen und genießen. Einen fetten Respekt dafür. Ursprünglich wollte ich mir einen Sub von [xxx] anschaffen, da dieser zu meinem Heimkino passen würde. Der Anschaffungspreis sollte nicht die 1000 ? überschreiten. Beim Probehören von [xxx] war ich allerdings mächtig enttäuscht. Da sich in den letzten 8 Wochen 2 Freunde von mir bereits den XW-900 angeschafft hatten, konnte ich diese im Vorfeld meiner Kaufentscheidung ausgiebig testen. Ich bin rundum zufrieden, der Sub integriert sich perfekt mit seinen neuen Freunden und hinterlässt einen bleibenden und druckvollen Eindruck. Klare Kaufempfehlung!!!

Speaker type, sound, and usage recommendation
When the nuSub XW-900 unleashes its 380-watt peak power, it doesn’t just massage the drums—it massages your diaphragm, too. Its lower cutoff frequency of 21 hertz reaches the lower limit of human hearing. This makes the nuSub XW-900 a prime candidate for demanding home cinema installations, where impactful bass reproduction significantly enhances movie enjoyment. In a sub/sat setup, it can give compact bookshelf speakers low-end extension on the level of high-quality floorstanders. And thanks to the convenient Nubert X-Remote control app and optional wireless connectivity, it’s the first choice for modern systems.
Even the mid-sized model among the three XW subwoofers remains very compact and, thanks to its downfire design, appears pleasantly discreet. The extended low-end reach and more powerful reproduction compared to its smaller sibling are primarily due to the increased cabinet volume, higher amplifier output, and larger bass driver. The 27 cm woofer delivers impressive performance figures, even under continuous use at the highest levels. As a result, a single nuSub XW-900 can still support full-size floorstanding speakers such as the nuPro XS-6000 RC or the nuVero 110 in the sub-bass range.
Even better than one nuSub XW-900 in the living room is two. Since the wireless system of our Nubert X devices can supply virtually any number of receivers, even four subwoofers at the same time are no problem—especially because wireless transmission provides maximum flexibility in placement. The transmitter can be either an amplifier or active speaker from Nubert’s X generation, or the nuConnect trX. With this practical wireless module, older AV receivers or stereo amplifiers can also be made ready for the wireless age. Alternatively, the nuSub can simply be connected via its line input.
There are also several ways to operate it. Crossover frequency and level can be adjusted easily using the rotary control on the rear of the subwoofer. Pressing the knob switches between the two functions; the currently selected value is indicated by LEDs in the corresponding colors. Even simpler—and visually clear—is control via our free Nubert X-Remote app for iOS and Android. Using the app’s calibration function, the subwoofer can be optimally matched to the room acoustics. This device can be paired with other products of the X platform via the Nubert wireless standards X-Connect and X-Connect Surround. Both standards transmit audio data in high resolution, securely, and with minimal latency. X-Connect transmits 2 channels at 192 kHz and 24 bit for maximum performance in stereo operation. X-Connect Surround, on the other hand, transmits up to 8 channels at 48 kHz and 24 bit to enable simple and elegant integration in multi-channel systems. Speakers of the nuPro X and XS series and the ampX amplifier transmit using the X-Connect standard, as does the nuConnect trX adapter. This adapter also allows HiFi and home cinema products from other manufacturers to be integrated into the wireless network. The nuPro XS-8500 RC soundbase and the nuXinema preAV AV preamplifier transmit using the X-Connect Surround standard. With the models in our nuSub series, both stereo satellite speakers and soundboards as well as home cinema systems can therefore be expanded effortlessly.
Design principle and cabinet
The nuSub XW-900 is designed as an active bass-reflex subwoofer in the so-called downfire configuration. This means that the driver and bass-reflex port radiate downward. Solid feet with height-adjustable spikes provide the necessary clearance and a perfectly level stance. The special acoustic challenges of this design are mastered, among other things, through the clever use of a digital signal processor—more on that in the “Control, app, and room calibration” section below.
One advantage of the downfire design principle is its discreet appearance. As a smooth, even cuboid with gently rounded edges, the XW-900 blends elegantly into virtually any interior style. The connections and controls are discreetly placed on the rear. The cabinet is made of robust and acoustically advantageous wood-fiber material (MDF) and finished with a high-quality lacquer in a silky matte finish.
Driver
The nuSub XW-900 uses a 27-centimeter driver with especially long excursion, optimized specifically for the requirements of this subwoofer and the downfire design. The wide, flexible surround allows particularly large cone movements. The generously dimensioned motor with a dual-magnet system offers high efficiency and can generate high sound pressure levels with the lowest possible distortion. Additional equalization is provided by the integrated signal processor, which drives the chassis optimally in every playback situation.
Amplifier module
The power amplifier of the nuSub woofers is based on the proven digital amplifiers of the nuPro series and features the same high-quality signal processing and impressive efficiency. With 220 watts nominal power and 380 watts music power, together with excellent impulse fidelity, the nuSub XW-900 delivers impressive bass performances in larger listening rooms. All settings are managed by the built-in digital signal processor (DSP).
The subwoofers of the nuSub range feature a line input that allows connection to standard receivers and amplifiers with a sub output via a Y-cable. Alternatively, any subwoofer can also receive audio signals wirelessly. As transmitters, we recommend our nuConnect ampX and nuXinema preAV amplifiers or a master speaker from the nuPro X and XS series (for example a nuPro XS-4000 or the nuPro XS-8500 soundbar). With the nuConnect trX, we also offer a transmitter module that can bring conventional receivers into the wireless era. The wireless range is typically around 15 meters. The possibilities are many!
Optional wireless operation
Instead of using the rotary control on the subwoofer, operation can also be done via the free Nubert X-Remote app for iOS and Android. Using the app is especially recommended for more complex control tasks, as it presents advanced functions—such as setting the crossover frequency—in a particularly clear way. The program automatically adapts its menu interface to the features of the connected device.
